Overview

Designed as propulsive engine for regional aircraft, it is installed on An-140 aircraft.
Proceeding from the necessity to reduce time and expenditures for designing, development and mastering quantity production, the ТV3-117VМА-SBМ1 engine was developed around the gas generator of the ТВ3-117ВМА helicopter gas-turbine designed by the NPP Klimov Plant and quantity produced by the Motor Sich JSC with the use of the reduction gear utilized in AI-24 turboprop designed by the SE Ivchenko-Progress and also produced by the Motor Sich JSC. This engine is to ensure reliable and cost effective operation of the airlane under the conditions of temperate and hot climate and in mountain regions.The engine is certified. Meets the effective environmental requirements of ICAO standards.

The engine is of a two-shaft design featuring power turbines and non-axial transmission with reduction gears. The twelve-stage axial-flow compressor is driven by the two-stage axial-flow turbine.

The turbine stage 1 N.G.V.’s are cooled by the air bled downstream of the compressor. The turbine has two stages and is of a non-cooled type. The gas generator rotor is carried by three support assemblies while the power turbine rotor is carried by two support assemblies. The annular combustion chamber has twelve duplex fuel nozzles. The propeller transmission comprises a fear reduction gear, a shafting and a front reduction gear.

The engine modular design makes it possible to replace the modules in service.
The auto control, monitoring and diagnostic system is used for automatic control of parameters of the power plant (engine + propeller) and provides for running monitoring of the power plant with solution of tolerance algorithms and warning about the critical conditions.
The power plant auto control plant auto control system is of an electronic-and-hydro-mechanical type and comprises main and standby systems.
